QUALITY CONTROL

CB Constructors' Quality Control process dictates that every project has a unique quality control plan based on internal guidelines, construction methodology and owner requirements.

Every project will have guidelines which are adhered to by the field management staff. The onsite quality control personnel have a dual responsibility to ensure that the project specifications are adhered to as well as to monitor the trade crafts for proper installation and application of materials. They report directly to the Construction Project Manager.

Drawing from a vast knowledgebase, the Quality Control manager creates a project-specific quality control plan, which includes inspection checklists, frequency and type of testing required, as well as the scheduling of third party consultants. The inspection checklists represent the cumulative lessons learned company-wide through more than thirty years of commercial construction. Each lesson learned, in the form of an inspection issue, is maintained via cutting-edge QC/QA software and tablet technology.

CB Constructors' supervisory field staff is trained in the use of iPad tablets which allow immediate, on-location input to the checklists including trade performance and QC testing notes. The tablets seamlessly synchronize with the software quality control program, allowing the entire QC team to stay informed and involved regardless of location. This system is also setup to create detailed performance and punchlist reports which are monitored and reviewed by the Quality Control Manager.

Simultaneously, CB Constructors' BIM and VDC department has teamed with the QC Manager to leverage the same technology. A separate BIM checklist is created to allow the monitoring and feedback of BIM-related QC items and follow-up issues. Like the regular QC system, a project-specific BIM checklist is created over the course of the project and is maintained in the field by both field staff and inspections by the VDC team for internal use. This allows a feedback loop to ensure that issues identified through the modeling and coordination processes are properly resolved in the actual construction.
